Dead man walking

I got confirmation from my health insurance company today that an allograft for my ACL reconstruction is an acceptable option, and they'll cover it.

For those not in the know, this option means using donor tissue sourced from a cadaver to build a new ACL in my knee during orthoscopic surgery in (gasp!) less than a week.

To the man or woman blessing my knee with their donation of a replacement body part: I give you my most heartfelt thanks. Hope you enjoy the ride.

Yeah! I'm glad to hear it was approved. My doctor tells me it's a faster and easier recovery. I think I've finally rounded the corner and am feeling better. I get my stitches out tomorrow.

You're going to do fine. I'll be thinking about you and praying you have attentive nurses and a good alarm clock to wake you when it's time to take your meds. They're crucial the first few days. Just stay ahead of it. ;-)

Well, it's an outpatient procedure in my case--so I'll share your pointers with Mrs. Shaft, who'll be my "nurse" at home!

Good luck! I'm sure "Mrs. Shaft" (love the name) will be more than attentive.

It's cool that you're acknowledging the gift from your anonymous donor.
